This is a postgraduate or progression route. Check the required previous degree, prior subjects, marks and any bridge-course conditions. No single percentage rule is applied to all universities.

The themes below are an editorial comparison checklist, not an institution’s claimed semester-by-semester syllabus. Download the exact university curriculum to confirm subject names, credits and assessment.
Who should consider this route?
MA English needs comfort with sustained reading and interpretive writing. Enjoying spoken English is different from studying a demanding literary text. Ask for the prescribed reading list and a sample assignment so you can judge the language level before enrolling.
How it differs from nearby choices
Compare literary periods, Indian writing, criticism and language-related papers across universities. An MA English is not the same service as a spoken-English coaching programme. If teaching is your aim, check the separate recruitment or professional qualification conditions for your intended role.
Try the work before paying
Read one short literary work and two contrasting critical discussions. Write a 1,000-word argument that cites passages and responds to an alternative interpretation. Revise one paragraph after checking whether the evidence really supports the claim.
Look for feedback on close reading, argument, referencing and organisation. Check whether the curriculum offers language or linguistics electives you actually want. Ask how dissertation supervision and access to reading materials work for an online learner.
| Comparison point | Question to ask the university |
|---|---|
| Reading list | Which full texts must I obtain and in what editions? |
| Entry rule | Is prior English study required for this exact programme? |
| Feedback | Are essays returned with substantive comments? |
Explore MAJMC: Compare MAJMC for reporting and practical communication production rather than primarily literary analysis.

Compare the work behind the subjects
- Ask for a sample assignment and the marking rubric.
- Check practical / project credits, faculty feedback and required software or materials.
- Read how internal assessment, end-term exams and re-examinations are handled.
- Confirm teaching and examination language separately.
For specialised routes, identify which subjects change from the general degree and whether the official award title or fees also change. A branded specialisation does not automatically create a separate recognised qualification.

| CAT / MAT / CUET acceptance | Programme-specific online acceptance is being verified |
| AONSAT / NSAT | Amity Online scholarship test; degree eligibility remains separate |

- Confirm your qualification and documents against the prospectus.
- Compare the full fee and refund terms.
- Submit the official application and retain academic admission confirmation.
