Who should consider this route?
BA needs a subject decision before a university decision. A language-focused BA, a general humanities BA and a social-science combination can require very different reading and assessment. Choose the subjects you want to study for several years, then check the exact title and language in the official programme document.
How it differs from nearby choices
Do not compare two BA fee totals as though the academic content is identical. The historical entries represented here can include general and language-specific routes. A lower fee for a Tamil programme does not establish a like-for-like alternative to a general BA or an English-focused course.
Try the work before paying
Select a public speech, historical document or short story relevant to your intended subject. Write a 600-word interpretation using three short references, identify a competing interpretation and explain why your reading is convincing. This exercise tests sustained reading and argument rather than recall alone.
Ask how written assignments are marked: clarity of argument, evidence, referencing and language should be visible in the rubric. Check the balance of essays and timed examinations. If your intended paper is taught in English, request a reading sample before judging your comfort level.
