Choose by the work, not only the degree name
The following examples help you distinguish the routes in economics. These are suggested trial tasks, not prescribed university assignments. Read the exact official curriculum after choosing the kind of work you want to learn.
MA Economics: compare the learning demands
MA Economics suits a graduate interested in how incentives, markets and public policy interact, with a willingness to work through quantitative reasoning. Read the mathematics and statistics prerequisites carefully. Interest in economic news alone does not indicate comfort with an econometrics assignment.
Download a small public dataset with a clearly identified source. Plot two variables, describe the relationship and write three reasons the pattern does not prove causation. Propose a better way to investigate the question and state limitations.
Alternative to investigate: Compare MSc Data Science for a stronger focus on programming and predictive modelling, subject to its entry rules. Read the MSc Data Science guide.
Before paying, request a sample assignment and a marking rubric for your selected route. For a student staying at home, this reveals whether the actual work depends on coding equipment, production tools, extensive reading or a supervised local placement.
